Why Do People Use Whatsapp?
I also wonder about the answer and what is so special about WhatsApp that everyone around me uses WhatsApp.
So, to answer this question. First I should describe how I started using WhatsApp.
When I got my first smartphone in 6th-grade WhatsApp ads on tv was very common.
Their ads were also very creative and they got stuck in my brain.
Everyone in my family already uses WhatsApp before I even got the phone. The first thing I did was install games and Whatsapp.
Whatsapp is used by most people which forces other people to use WhatsApp to chat with them.
Users on WhatsApp doesn't want to shift to other social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook because they think that WhatsApp feels more personal to them.

I think that they feel Whatsapp is more personal because you need a phone number to chat with someone.
Another thing that I think about is old age people also use WhatsApp easily and they can't use other apps like Instagram.
The major reason behind this is that the WhatsApp interface is very easy to use and doesn't have many things to do like stories on Instagram or liking a pic of someone.
Whatsapp marketing was very good. That's why it got popular so quickly.
Whatsapp features are the same as other apps but only simplicity made it the best.
Whatsapp was launched in 2009 in the United States and at that time no app like WhatsApp ever existed from which you can do messaging, calling only on the internet without any extra charges.
There was no major competitor at the time when WhatsApp was launched. So it gave WhatsApp a boost because of no competitors.
Instagram was launched on 6th October 2010.
When WhatsApp was launched facebook existed but it didn't have the feature of calling or messaging over the internet.
Whatsapp existed for a long time in offering the feature of calling or messaging over the internet which makes it dominate other social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
I also think that WhatsApp is in the market for a long time than other apps make WhatsApp more trustworthy and better branding.
The thing which makes WhatsApp stand unique from other social media is the features that it give to users.
Features which answers- Why Do people use Whatsapp
1. Location sharing- You can share live location on WhatsApp with other contacts on your phone. You can also decide the duration of location sharing with someone.
2. Contacts- You can also send contacts to other people on WhatsApp which skips the hassle to type the phone number and then save it.
When you send the contact then the person has the option to add it to contact but the contact does not automatically get added.
3. Documents- You can share documents like pdf files of important documents. This is a very amazing feature which makes it unique.
4 Common Features- Whatsapp also has common features like you can send voice clips and share photos with anyone.
These features are nowadays common but at the time WhatsApp was launched then these features were not present in any other apps.
Whatsapp have also featured WhatsApp status which is the same as stories on Instagram.
5. Send Money- The latest new feature on WhatsApp makes it unique. Now you can send money to someone on WhatsApp in the united states just through novie which is a digital wallet.
Whatsapp payment methods are different for different countries.
Whatsapp is itself 90% unique as a social media app.
This app is so convenient to use like if you have to message someone then you just have to open Whatsapp and select the contact.
In just two clicks, you can send messages to anyone.
But in other apps, you have to go to the chat section and then find who you want to message which causes delay and inconvenience.
The main reason why people use WhatsApp is that everyone around them and their loved ones are also using WhatsApp.
The ones who are using it don't want to shift to any other app because they are addicted to simplicity of usage.
If I don't want to use WhatsApp then for me it is impossible because all my friends and family group on WhatsApp.
I can't ask them to shift to other apps because I am also addicted to using the simple interface instead of the flashy and complex interface of other social media apps.
This also answers the question- Why would someone use Whatsapp?
